Charlottesville is full of life and activities and the winter is no exception. Just because it’s cold outside, doesn’t mean you need to be stuck inside! Whether you live in the area of are just visiting for the holidays, take time to enjoy the beauty and everything Charlottesville has to offer.

The Great Russian Nutcracker runs on various dates in December at the Paramount Theater. This is a spectacular performance and a must see.

Looking for something fun to do with the kids? How about designing your own gingerbread house? Located at the Thomas Jefferson Visitor center, your kids will love decorating their own house and enjoying family time with hot cider and cookies. You can also enjoy breakfast with Santa at the Virginia Discovery Museum. So come and eat some pancakes and visit with Santa.

In addition to festivals, concerts and workshops, Virginia also offers great skiing and snowboarding in nearby counties.
Finally, let’s not forget about the first night celebrations at the downtown mall. A variety of activities for all age ranges. A perfect way to start 2015.
