Charlottesville Plans Mixed-Income Housing

by staff on August 30, 2011

There are 2 new plans for new mixed-income housing in the Charlottesville and Albemarle County area.   The Piedmont Housing Alliance (PHA) intends to develop one plan which consists of 24 condominiums near the University of Virginia hospital in town.  That one has been named “SoHo” because it is “SOuth of the HOspital”.    25% of the units will be reserved for low-income housing and will be funded in part by profits from the other units…. the developers are still seeking funding to start the project.

They also have a 2nd project scheduled for west of Charlottesville, at Jarman’s Gap and Blue Ridge Avenue in Crozet.   It could have similar proportions of low/moderate income units with possible commercial space.   More details are in the link at the top of the page.
