Answers About a Unique Home

by staff on August 4, 2011

In the course of our work, we’ve shown property to clients who are interested in land lots in Schuyler  (about 35 minutes from Charlottesville) known as The Quarries.  It’s a very unique location, a rural wooded eco-development built around some previous soapstone quarries.   Occasionally we receive questions from our prospective buyers, about the purpose and reason for the unusual styling of a particular cube-shaped home there.

So we read with interest THIS STORY  about that history of that home.   It turns out that it took shape as a result of some very special circumstances and relationships for the owner.   The owner (a UVa graduate) and her best friend since 3rd grade (who became an architect) collaborated to design and create a very customized solution that fits the owner like a glove.   Check out the wonderful story of their friendship and talent.

If you’d like to see more, here is a link to the architect’s photos of construction on this central VA home.    Just give us a call if you’d like to learn more.
